Morinville Poultry Farm is no longer certified by the Alberta Halal Auditing Service
The facility submits a request for Halal certification
AHAS reviews:
Type of operation (slaughter, processing, etc.)
Current practices and equipment
Initial eligibility is determined
An AHAS auditor visits the facility
We evaluate:
Slaughter methods
Stunning methods (if used)
Cleanliness and segregation
Staff procedures
The facility is guided on required changes (if needed)
This may include:
Training slaughter personnel
Adjusting procedures to meet Halal standards
Implementing tracking systems
Slaughter personnel are:
Verified as Muslim
Trained on proper Halal procedures
Each individual is registered and approved by AHAS
AHAS observes actual operations
We verify:
Proper recitation (each animal)
Correct slaughter method
Animal condition at time of slaughter
Any issues must be corrected before approval
Once all requirements are met:
Certification is granted
Facility is authorized to use AHAS Halal status
Certification is not a one-time approval.
We maintain ongoing oversight through:
Regular scheduled inspections
Unannounced random visits
Real-time verification of practices
Every operation is documented:
Who performed the slaughter
When it occurred
What animals were processed
This ensures complete accountability.
If standards are not met:
Products may be rejected
Certification may be suspended or revoked
Corrective actions are required before reinstatement
